Hi everybody :) ummmm i have exams these few weeks so I’m not going to be on a lot. I will resume ASAP though. I have a 10 hour art exam tomoro and wednesday and I’m screwed because i need to do 15 more pages in my art book by tomoro D: SORRYYY GUYSS! <3 I’ll be back ^_^
I-Pin realised what she was doing and rubbed her eyes fiercely drying the tears quickly.
She paused thinking about going out for food, but stopped knowing what Chrome was thinking. Biting her lip, she tilted her head wondering what to do.
“I could cook ramen… I think we have some in the kitchen..” She mentioned getting up to look as well.
Once I-Pin had her back turned, Chrome let the smile drop, and sighed in relief. Her plan was a success.
I-Pin is too nice for her own good. She thought, allowing a genuine smile to spread on her face at how helpful the girl was.
“I-Pin-san, let’s go to the kitchen.” she suggested, stepping out of her room and walking down the hall.
The base is so quiet. she thought sadly.
“Mhhm, okay.” I-Pin said slowly following behind.
She paused sensing the awkwardness.
Maybe I should turn on some music… it might make the silence go away for awhile…
“Ramen?” Lambo pondered, smiling, “Of course! You’re cooking is the best!” He balked a little upon hearing her question, but continued walking.
“My vision of an ideal date…?” Lambo coughed, turning a little red, “Well, I suppose it would have to be very romantic. I mean, I think getting to know each other even more is good. Talking is good.” He said, a bit lamely. “And expanding on both of the couple’s interests would be a good foundation for the relationship…”
“Er… why do you want to know?” Lambo asked, after pausing awkwardly.
“Thank you.” she said. Craning her head around, she looked at him curiously trying not to giggle.
“Oh, oh mmhm… um.. just wondering…?” I-Pin looked down smiling. ” How romantic, I’m really lucky aren’t I?”
Trying to avoid more questioning, she tried to change the subject. She put her cold fingers to his red face squeezing his cheeks. “Lambo your cheeks are so squishy!” she said, enthusiastically kissing him on the nose.
At the sight of I-Pin’s tear-streaked face, Chrome faltered. She could feel herself beginning to turn back into the blubbering mess that she was previously.
All she wanted to do was to let the negative thoughts take over her mind, to just sit there like she had the past 5 days.
Crying, and doing little else.
But she couldn’t afford to do that now.
“I-I’m sorry, I-Pin-san.” Chrome mustured up a small smile. “Let’s go get something to eat now, then…”
Well, that was what she suggested, but they couldn’t afford to go out. Not with their faces looking so bad from crying, and also because there was bound to be assasination attempts from rival families now that they had lost one of their mist guardians.
Maybe there’s food in the kitchen. Gently slipping out of I-Pin’s arms, Chrome walked over to the door.
For a few moments, Chrome let herself cry. She allowed herself to drop her normally quiet and calm façade and just let it all out, in the form of salty tears and shaking hands.
No… I shouldn’t trouble the others….
Raising her head, she tried to smile at I-Pin. “L-Let’s not waste time… I’m sure B-Bossu has work for us… a-and I’m feeling better now.”
She tried to seem like she was… well not fine, but better now. After all, she didn’t want to trouble the others with her mourning. It had been a few days ago now, shouldn’t she have been slowly getting better? At the rate this was going, Chrome had a feeling that she’d be like this for a while to come.
She could only hope that I-Pin believed her lie.
Silently crying along with her, she widened her eyes in surprise seeing Chrome suddenly stop.
Ahh.. typical Chrome she thought sadly, even in the depths of her biggest loss she still couldn’t make others feel troubled with her.
New tears brimmed against her eyes again, seeing her best friend like this was almost as despairing as what had happened. It only being five days ago, she was astonished that Chrome could even pretend or try to act a little better.
I-Pin let out a sad sigh, “Chrome, no-one expects you to feel alright after this, I’m just worried that you need to eat and come out of your room once in a while.”
She gave Chrome a tight hug, tears running down her face.
She shrunk back, surprised from Chrome’s sudden attack. “I….I… I’m so sorry Chrome.. I just really … I…” she slumped down against the wall and slid to the floor. I-Pin clenched her hand to stop it from shaking.
Staying in her company even without talking was good for her. She needed to know that she wasn’t alone in this. She herself couldn’t believe it either but was still trying to accept the fact. It was hard, as nothing like this had ever happened to her before and it hit hard.
I-Pin’s eyes watered as she looked helplessly to her friend, unable to put words out into the empty silence between them.
Chrome shifted uncomfortably. She felt horrible, blowing up at her friend like that. It didn’t suit her nature at all.
Getting up from where she was sitting, she walked over to where I-Pin was on the floor. Smiling softly, she hugged her. “I’m sorry…” she murmured. “It’s just so hard.” she said, a fresh wave of sadness washing over her. As tears springed up in her eye, her smile fell.
“Its alright.” She sighed, “I shouldn’t have asked you that. Its not even been a week yet.”
It was completely understandable she guessed. It’s just that the situation was unbearable, she should have known this would happen. She looked sadly at Chrome trying to fake a smile. I-Pin wrapped her arms around her best friend letting her sob into her shoulder.
She tried to put herself in Chrome’s shoes thinking what she would do if Lambo was the one instead.. shuddering, she mentally slapped herself for even thinking that.
Wrapping her arms around his neck, she raised an eyebrow. “Eh? The…ice-cream shop… Is’nt it somewhere over there?” I-Pin pointed at the shadowy far end of the street. “But it’s getting a bit dark Lambo, maybe we should just go home?” She snuggled up to him burying her face in his hair.
Lambo looked up at the sky: she was right, the sun was setting faster by the second. “Sure.” He said, tightening his grip on her. “Wouldn’t want to meet up with some dodgy people in the allyway…” Looking a bit freaked out by this thought, he shrugged it off, and headed off towards the direction of the house.
“I didn’t notice we’d travelled this far…” Lambo commented, a bit of worry shining in his eyes - not that I-Pin could see it, as she was on his back.
“Oh..” she nodded in agreement, “It’s too bad about the ice-cream, but we can still have a little date at home? I could cook….ramen!” I-Pin smiled sighing.
“Lambo?” she asked, “What is your vision of an ideal date?” hoping to compare his thoughts to hers, her head leaning on his.
